Lake County wins the “Keep Lake Moving” Award for excellence in Transportation Engineering with BESH Design

Mount Dora, FL – The Lake-Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) held its Ninth Annual Horizon Awards Dinner on January 27th. Lake County was the proud recipient of the “Keep Lake Moving” award for the CR561/455 Roundabout Project which was designed by Booth, Ern, Straughan & Hiott, Inc.

Pictured holding the award is Jim Stivender, Lake County Public Works Director and Duane Booth, P.E. and President of BESH.

The Roundabout Project was created due to a safety issue at the intersection of these 2 county roads.   With a 42% higher crash rate than the state average at this intersection, and with traffic projected to double in the next 20 years, the problem was addressed with the most viable solution for the long-term.

Since the roundabout opened a year ago, there has not been an accident at the site.

BESH is proud to be an integral part to improving the lives of Lake County citizens and is honored to be a part of such a significant organization whose main purpose and mission is to give local governments, residents and agencies a forum for addressing issues of growth and transportation.
